Not Internet but Splinternet. Facebook's new Internet.Org is just as evil

Why is Mark Zuckerberg so concerned about his 'charity' initiative that he had to re-jig it in the face of opposition, star in another breathless video about it, and start a misleading campaign about it among users in India? Bear with me, it's an interesting story
Facebook is in a bit of a jam, and opposition to this one pet project in India is probably pointing to the seams of a larger story worldwide. But it all starts with a simple pair of numbers.

How much do I have to pay for my website?

How much do I have to pay for my website?

If you’re thinking about starting a Landing Page, a Blog, a Support Site, a eCommerce site or a Media/Content site based on static HTML or on a CMS like WordPress, one of the first questions you’ll probably ask yourself is “how much does this website cost?”. It’s an important question! Figuring out the best way to start a website early on can save you a ton of money in the long run.
One of the biggest issues with figuring out the price is that web design is a service, but most clients see a website as a ‘product’. Many of them believe that they can walk into a ‘virtual store’ and order a 5 page website for fixed fee. However a website is something that should be created according to your needs!

So, the first question I want to ask you is:

Tool - Google Web Designer

Google Web Designer is a professional-quality design tool that empowers creative professionals to develop cutting-edge HTML5 content for free. As an added benefit to ad designers, Google Web Designer is seamlessly integrated with DoubleClick Studio and Mobile Apps Reserve, greatly simplifying the process of building HTML5 creative that can be served through Google platforms.

Last September, Google launched Web Designer, a free tool for Mac, Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) that makes it easy for anybody to build interactive HTML5 sites and ads. Since its launch, Web Designer got a couple of minor updates, but the last release is the first major update in a long time and brings quite a few new features to the software.

Given Google’s propensity for abandoning projects like this, it’s nice to see that the company continues to invest in Web Designer. It’s a surprisingly easy tool to work with and thanks to its integrated code editor, you can always get your hands dirty and fine-tune the result to your liking by manually editing the CSS and JavaScript.

Share and Sync your Google Task List with Others

Google Tasks is one handy tool which I use often to create a quick to-do list. It’s simple, efficient and easy to use. What makes it even more powerful is that they are integrated with other Google services like Gmail, Calendar and iGoogle.

It certainly does help me a lot in keeping things organized and with features like directly adding your Gmail emails to task list for follow ups (Press Shift + T) makes it one indispensable tool. If you had not yet explored this tool, launch it by clicking on Gmail(Top left corner) ->Tasks.

The tool currently supports to share your task list via emails. But in most case it’s not sufficient, wouldn’t it be great if there is a way to allow others to update your Task List so that the list always remains fresh and updated. If you are working in team or if there are more than one person managing the list then it becomes a must have feature.

Consider these situations:
  • Your project manager has created a to-do list in his account and requires the list to be updated by team members as and when they complete the tasks.
  • You are a homemaker and have created a list of things to be bought for this week. Your husband has promised to get some of the things while he is back from office and your maiden has gone out to get few others. So how would you ensure that the list is synced up and is up-to-date?
So, I have come up with an app to address this problem and it will help you in getting this missing feature.

Introducing Shared Google Tasks:

This app will help you share and sync your Google task list with others. You can even share your list with anonymous users who don’t have Google account who can update the tasks and the data will instantly be reflected in your account.

Features:

1. The sync up takes place instantly. There is no polling.
2. Any user with or without Google account can update the list.
3. You can add, edit, mark as completed or pending and delete any tasks.
4. Lesser the chance

It works fine for us!

WordPress 4.2.2 Security Release and Genericons vulnerability

WordPress 4.2.2 has just been released which contains several important security fixes. We recommend you update immediately if you haven't already been automatically upgraded.
  • The Genericons icon font package, which is used in a number of popular themes and plugins, contained an HTML file vulnerable to a cross-site scripting attack. All affected themes and plugins hosted on WordPress.org (including the Twenty Fifteen default theme) have been updated today by the WordPress security team to address this issue by removing this non-essential file. To help protect other Genericons usage, WordPress 4.2.2 pro-actively scans the wp-content directory for this HTML file and removes it. This was reported by Robert Abela of Netsparker.
  • WordPress versions 4.2 and earlier are affected by a critical cross-site scripting vulnerability, which could enable anonymous users to compromise a site. WordPress 4.2.2 includes a comprehensive fix for this issue. Reported separately by Rice Adu and Tong Shi.
  • The release also includes hardening for a potential cross-site scripting vulnerability when using the visual editor. This issue was reported by Mahadev Subedi.

The release also fixes 13 other bugs which you can learn more about on the release notes page for 4.2.2.
